01/06/2011: July Deadline for Rural Broadband Scheme

Individuals, businesses and community organisations occupying premises in rural areas of Ireland have until 29 July to submit an application to install a basic broadband service.

The Department for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has established the Rural Broadband Scheme to bring basic broadband services to areas where current provision does not exist.


31/05/2011: Extended Deadline for Innovation That Matters

The it@cork competition for innovative technology concepts is now open for applications until 28 June.

Innovation That Matters, run in partnership by Cork County Council and it@cork, is offering a prize of €1,000 plus a place on a trade mission to Chicago for the company with the best marketable technology concept, product or service innovation.


31/05/2011: Job Creation Funding For Expanding Businesses

Enterprise Ireland has launched an updated version of the Job Expansion Fund for companies planning expansion and development projects, with funding available for recruitment and wage costs for up to two years.

Enterprise Ireland provides a range of funding to assist the development of companies operating in the manufacturing and internationally traded services - key economic sectors for Ireland with potential for export trade.


27/05/2011: Enterprise Ireland Competitive Start Fund

High potential start-up companies in the life sciences, cleantech and industrial sectors could benefit from a €50,000 investment boost from a new fund launched today.

The €775,000 Competitive Start Fund is targeted at pre-start and early-stage companies in the life sciences, clean/environmental technologies and industrial/manufacturing sectors that have the potential to become High Potential Start-Ups and capacity to succeed in global markets.


27/05/2011: LaunchPad Programme Seeks Next Generation of Digital Entrepreneurs

Applications are invited for the LaunchPad enterprise accelerator - a three month programme including mentoring and seed funding to develop ideas for a commercially viable start-up enterprise in the web and mobile technology sectors.

LaunchPad is an enterprise accelerator programme run by the National Digital Research Centre (NDRC). The Programme is the first of its kind in Ireland and is targeted at supporting the next generation of digital entrepreneurs, focusing on developing good ideas into viable start-up enterprises.

Údarás na Gaeltachta has announced a new fund to support committees and community development organisations to set up community enterprises in Gaeltacht areas.

02/06/2011: New Fund Launched for Abuse Survivors

The Survivors of Abuse in Irish-Run Religious Institutions scheme is provided by the St Stephen's Green Trust (SSGT) for organisations working in the UK and Ireland.

SSGT commissioned a report in 2009, conducted by social researcher Mary Higgins, to identify a socio-economic profile of survivors of abuse in Irish religious-run institutions. The report's findings were used to target unmet needs and ensure the appropriate allocation of support and resources.
